Roadway Moving's long distance movers

A nicer way to move in Dallas, TX

Roadway Moving TX is highly experienced in providing complete local and long-distance moving, packing, unpacking, and storage services to all people and businesses in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.

Whether you’re relocating from a high-rise in Uptown, a family home in Highland Park, a loft in Deep Ellum, or finally escaping that apartment with the “vintage” AC unit in Oak Lawn, we’ve got you covered.

Our white-glove moving service ensures your belongings are handled with the utmost care, from custom crating for valuables to furniture disassembly and reassembly.

As a fully licensed and insured moving company that has been in the business for 15+ years with thousands of 5-star reviews, Roadway Moving is one of the most reputable movers serving Dallas and the surrounding areas.

We started in NYC, where we mastered the art of navigating tight spaces, narrow stairwells, and impossible parking situations, so trust us, your Dallas move will feel like a wide-open Texas highway by comparison.

Our prices are based on the size of your move and your specific needs. Once you inquire with us, we will provide you with a guaranteed flat price for your move – no hidden fees, no surprises.

Every move is an opportunity to show customers like you that moving can be a joyful and relaxed experience. Here is what our customers from Dallas had to say about our moving services.

Best California to Texas moving company

The best time to move is fall or early spring (but we move year-round)

Roadway Moving will complete your move no matter the weather. Rain, heat, cold, whatever Dallas throws at us, our crews show up and get the job done. That’s not a concern.

But for you, Dallas summers can be rough. Temperatures regularly exceed 100°F from June through August, and standing around in that heat while your house gets loaded or unloaded is no fun. Your belongings feel it too. Electronics, candles, vinyl records, and wood furniture don’t do well sitting in a hot truck or baking in an empty house with no AC.

Spring has the best weather but brings severe storm risk, including tornadoes and hail. Fall (September through November) is the sweet spot: comfortable temperatures, lower humidity, and off-peak moving rates.

If you need to move in July, we’ll get it done. Just know that you might want to wait at your air-conditioned office until we call you to say we’re wrapping up.

And if you are on site, keep a cooler with cold water and snacks in your car. Pack your essentials (medications, phone chargers, toiletries, a change of clothes) separately and keep them with you rather than on the truck. You don’t want to dig through a stack of boxes in a 95°F house looking for your toothbrush. If possible, have the AC running at your new place before the movers arrive.

Many buildings require a Certificate of Insurance (COI)

If you’re moving into a high-rise, condo, or managed apartment building in Dallas (especially in Uptown, Downtown, or Victory Park), the building management will likely require your moving company to provide a Certificate of Insurance before they allow the move.

This protects the building in case of damage. When getting quotes from movers, ask if they can provide a COI. A professional moving company should provide this at no extra charge. Roadway Moving is fully insured and we provide COIs to our customers as part of our standard service.

Reserve the elevator and loading dock

In larger apartment buildings and high-rises, you’ll often need to reserve a freight elevator and loading dock time slot in advance. Some buildings only allow moves during specific hours or on certain days. Contact your building management as soon as you have a move date locked in. Missing your slot can mean rescheduling your entire move.

Watch out for toll roads

The Dallas-Fort Worth area has an extensive network of toll roads: Dallas North Tollway, President George Bush Turnpike, Sam Rayburn Tollway, and more. If you’re driving your own car, get a TollTag through NTTA (North Texas Tollway Authority) before you move. Without one, you’ll be billed by mail at higher rates.

If you’re moving with Roadway Moving, don’t worry about tolls for our trucks. They’re already included in your flat-rate quote.

Plan around Dallas traffic

Dallas is spread out and traffic can be brutal, especially on I-35E, I-635 (LBJ Freeway), US-75, and I-30 during rush hours. A drive that takes 20 minutes on a Sunday can take over an hour on a weekday morning.

If you’re following the moving truck in your own car, or if friends and family are helping you move in, plan accordingly. Rush hours are typically 7-9 AM and 4-7 PM.

Since Roadway Moving offers flat-rate pricing, you won’t pay extra if our crew gets caught in traffic, but building your schedule around peak hours helps everything run smoother.

Apartment complexes often require move-in fees

Many Dallas apartment communities charge move-in fees separate from your security deposit. Some also require proof of renters insurance before they hand over the keys. Check with your leasing office ahead of time so you’re not surprised on move-in day. Some buildings also have specific rules about where moving trucks can park and for how long.

If your move-in and move-out dates don’t line up, use our storage

It happens all the time: your lease ends on the 30th but you can’t get into your new place until the 3rd. If you need somewhere to keep your stuff in between, Roadway Moving offers short-term and long-term storage solutions. Your belongings stay safe in our climate-controlled facility until you’re ready for delivery.
