How to deal with the leftover packing supplies after a move

When the entire moving process is finished, the leftover packing supplies will become less useful than they were before. First of all, you don’t have to let these items take up your space for no good reasons. There are many ways to repurpose packing materials while making sure your home will become clutter-free. Here’s what you can do to keep your moving supplies useful after your move.

  1. Donate

If you’re looking for other ways to reuse your leftover packing materials such as the boxes, you may be thinking about donation. Remember, moving boxes can also be donated. You just need to look for some places which are willing to take these items with them. These may include local schools, goodwill stores, homeless shelters, and religious centers. If you can’t find the perfect place to donate, post an announcement online about the boxes available for donation.

  1. Keep them for the next relocation

If you think there’ll be a chance that you’ll relocate again in the near future, you need to be ready. And being prepared means avoiding the process of finding packing materials all over again.  It’s, therefore, a good idea to save the ones that you already have, so you’ll be a hundred percent ready for your next move.

However, if you decide to keep your leftover packing supplies, you should designate the best place to store them. If you have a garage, place everything in a proper manner to make sure you don’t cause chaos in your new place. If you don’t have a garage, find a storage space near you.

  1. Use them for DIY projects

After moving with the assistance of professional movers, it’s time to think about providing a personal touch to your new house. If you love arts and crafts, you can use your leftover packing suppliers for a DIY project. Here’s how:

  • Bed for pets – You can make a comfortable place for your pets with the use of large moving boxes.
  • Wall art – Wrapping materials like bubble wrap can be great wall art. By utilizing them, you can give your new home a unique, personal touch.
  • Dollhouse – If you have little kids, making a dollhouse out of your leftover cardboard boxes can be a great idea.
  1. Recycle

Since most moving boxes are recyclable, recycling can be an eco-friendly means to dispose of them. To recycle them, cut all the tape off each box using cutters or anything sharp. That way, you can quickly flatten them all separately and drop them off easily to a recycling bin near your place.

  1. Utilize them as storage

Typically, boxes and other packing supplies are perfect for creating personalized storage containers. Besides, they’re intended to hold and store items. Boxes of various sizes can be utilized to store anything like toys, seasonal clothes, personal valuables, and many more.

Final Thoughts

By keeping these ideas in mind, you can be able to decide what to do with them wisely. Remember, these are just some of the ways where you can get the most out of your leftover packing materials past their original purpose. With a little creativity, you can come up with more unique ways of using them.
